Camel Cowfish

(Tetrasomus gibbosus)

The camel cowfish (Tetrasomus gibbosus) is one of the most peculiar looking fish in the hobby. They have a hard skeleton that gives them ridges and thorns as protection from predators, while they primarily use their tail as a rudder to steer about. Many species of boxfish may release a toxin if they die or become stressed that can severely harm other members of your tank. But when well taken care of, they are a beautiful and fascinating addition to a fish-only tank.
